Losing to...Seattle?!
After two disastrous outings, Matt Patricia took over on the sideline. The Eagles defensive coordinator, Sean Desai, went up to the booth, but it would be Patricia calling plays. The Eagles had given up 42 points to San Fransisco, then 33 to Dallas, losing both of those games. They needed a change, and Patricia came in.
And for a while it seemed fine, perfect rather. Already the Eagles had bagged two sacks, and held Seattle to 13 points. Sure Jalen Hurts had thrown another pick, but the score was 17-13 with less than two minutes on the clock. What could a 6-7 team do? What could a backup quarterback do? It was over.
But that's when Drew Lock led the Seahawks to a 92 yard touchdown drive, obliterating Philly's secondary, and ending with a 29 yard Jaxon Smith-Njigba touchdown. A second interception by Julian Love wiht sealed the deal.
The Eagles have lost three straight |
This isn't the team we saw last year. Defensively that drive was a nightmare. Last year their defense wouldn't allow a touchdown to a backup quarter back. That 92 yard touchdown drive was brutal.
Jalen Hurts did finish with two touchdowns on the ground running for yards. However also threw a measly 143 yards coupled with two INT's. The sour icing on the cake was a putrid 40.1 passer rating.
Fletcher Cox and Jalen Carter both earned a sack, as this has been a phenomenal rookie year for Carter. And you have to give the defense a little respect as they did only give up 20 points and held Seattle to 297 yards in Matt Patricia's first start. However, Seattle is such a mediocre team, this loss was pretty embarrassing. Offensively Jalen Hurts has been really so-so with all his picks. He's earning touchdowns, but the majority of them are on the brotherly shove.
This is three straight losses. Although the Eagles look dead and done, San Fransisco did have a resurgence after losing three straight as well. Brock Purdy looked like a rookie, but now he is playing like Tom Brady. There is hope for this team. The only problem is that the 49ers had a bye week following three straight losses to work things out, and the Eagles don't. Their defense is horrible and hopefully Sean Desai will lose his job this off season. Last year the Eagles looked unstoppable. Right now...
