It's only preseason

The Eagles visited Baltimore to start their preseason journey, and they didn't quite start off with a bang. While the Birds' defense was solid, their offense sputtered. I'm so ready to watch a Jalen Hurts led offense.

Their defense was decent against a decent offense. Sydney Brown logged nine tackles. They also batted away a couple passes, and made a couple of tackles for loss of yardage. The Eagles' D  held the Ravens to 272 yards of offense. Eli Ricks also had a pick-six, scoring six of the Eagles' 19 points.

The Eagles offense wasn't so great. All of the quarterbacks took a combined four sacks. Ian Book, Marcus Mariota, and rookie Tanner McKee each took a turn taking snaps. Although it is clear Marcus Mariota is the second string QB, the battle for third string was still in full swing. McKee seemed to have the upper hand, as  Book tried very hard to extend plays, resulting in some risky runs which led to a loss of yardage. McKee confidently passed for 148 yard leading all Eagles quarterbacks. Mariota passed for only 58 yards, but averaged 7.2 yards per carry and made some clutch plays. Tyrie Cleveland had 68 receiving yards and Greg Ward had 53. It wasn't a horrible game, as the Eagles could have drawn the game, but they went for the two point conversion. They lost 20-19.

Well it is only preseason, and it really is just a time to see how players do and giving younger players a time to get on the field. It is exciting to see the Eagles back on the gridiron, but I can't wait to see Jalen Hurts play again. The Eagles backups are good, but watching Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, A.J. Brown, and of course, Hurts, play, is the best.
