The Phillies take poundings in Cincinnati
When Miami visited Philly they were not received warmly, at least at first. The Phillies pummeled Miami 15-3, hit ball after ball, and looked very good as a team. Matt Strahm tossed six strikeouts while pitching in five innings, and didn't give up a single run. Alec Bohm had six RBI, while Nick Castellanos and Brandon Marsh had three. The win gave a positive boost to the next two games at home vs the Marlins.
Or not, and it didn't end in that series, because they dropped the next four out of five games against Miami through the Reds.
It all started when they gave up an 8-4 loss at home to the Miami. Aaron Nola threw six strikeouts, but allowed nine hits, and four runs. Bryson Stott put up two hits along with two RBI and Nick Castellanos also hit two balls. Ultimately thought, they didn't put up much of a challenge that game, and didn't in the next. The Marlins managed a 3-2 victory. The Phillies were up 2-1 until the eighth inning, when they crumbled. They gave up a Jorge Soler game tying homer, and then an RBI single from Bran De La Cruz in the 10th inning to give Miami the game.
And as soon as Philly headed to Cincinnati, they couldn't win either. They took a quick 6-2 loss. Bailey Falter gave up eight hits and five runs. Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos each had an RBI, but they were the only Phillies to do so. It looked bad, but the Phils came back the next game with vengeance, and showed it. They finished with a solid 8-3 victory. Schwarber, Castellanos, Marsh, Realmuto, and Bohm all had an RBI, Bohm and Realmuto batting in two runs. Trea Turner had two hits, and Stott added one. The entire team put together a good game, and took the win.

The Phillies finally won a game after a three game losing streak |
The win should have provided some momentum for their next, but it didn't. In fact, quite the opposite. The Phillies took a 13-0 shutout. The Phillies managed just five hits, and pitcher Josh Harrison gave up five runs...in one inning. The Reds' Wil Myers had two much fun, slugging two homers, batting in five runs, and hitting four balls.
The Phillies took harsh games from the Reds, and have to rebound if they want to make a case for the World Series again.
