The mole got his head blasted

Sometimes it's worth fighting to the end. And sometimes it's better to quit early. The Giants didn't, and really should have. In the first quarter alone, James Bradberry had a pick and Jalen Hurts threw two touchdowns. In the first half the Eagles scored 28 points en route to a 38-7 wipeout of the Giants.

The game was actually somewhat of a joke. The Giants scored a grand total of one touchdown, and couldn't stop the Eagles repeating onslaught of offense, and defense. Daniel Jones threw zero touchdowns and only 135 yards and had a 53.8 rating. He wasn't stellar all year, but had a nice playoff game against the Vikings. It seemed as if that excellent game was tossed down the drain, as the Giant's visit in Philly was a nightmare.

Daniel Jones couldn't stand up in the pocket. Literally. Ends and Tackles swamped Jones, and he was skittish. He couldn't make plays, and had a pretty nasty game. The Eagles sacked him five times. That is the least they have sacked Jones this year. The last time they met, the Eagles sacked him seven times. So, maybe the Giants offensive line should take that as a compliment. They improved by two sacks.

DeVonta Smith had a nice game with six receptions for 61 yards. He and Dallas Goedert both caught a touchdown, as Goedert also had 58 yards on the day. Kenneth Gainwell turned in the best game of his career, rushing for 112 yards on only 12 carries. Miles Sanders also had a productive outing rushing for 90 yards and finishing with 5.3 yards per carry. Jalen Hurts also rushed for a touchdown, and Boston Scott punched a touchdown in as well. The ground game was ridiculous, as they in and of themselves had more yards than the entire Giant's offense. The Eagles held the Giants to only 227 yards as Philly cruised to 416 total yards.

It was the fourth quarter. With only two minutes left to play, and the Eagles already up 31-7, Philly was playing casual football. Jalen Hurts was on the bench and Gardner Minshew was calling plays. Even if the Giants somehow generated three touchdowns in the final two minutes, they would have to score all of their two point attempts to even just tie the game and force overtime. And if, somehow, they succeeded in their nearly impossible task, they would have to go through the entire cycle again. Defensive linemen crushing Daniel Jones, while the Eagles waltzed into the end zone. But as if the 31-7 lead wasn't enough, Kenneth Gainwell decided that he wanted a touchdown as well! Both Boston Scott and Jalen Hurts had one already. Well, he got what he wanted as he dashed 35 yards for his touchdown, and officially sealed the game, now with less than two minutes to play. His final game stats were never seen before from him: 112 yards, an astounding 9.3 yards per carry, and that touchdown. The best game of his career.

Last football post I did, I mentioned the resiliency of the Giants, and how just like whack-a-mole, they as a team kept on popping up. Well, the Eagles had none of that on Saturday. The problem with whack-a-mole is that you cannot end the moles unending popping. Well not in this case. The Eagles utterly thrashed this mole. See you next year, Giants.
