The Future of the Eagles is Jalen Hurts

Let's look at some Eagles' history beginning in 2017. Carson Wentz was the future...or so everyone thought. After leading his team to a 10-2 record, Wentz tore his ACL, Jolly Old Saint Nick took over, and everyone knows how that ended. However, ever since then Wentz was not playing as he had. Nick Foles played the last three games of the 2018 season and played okay in the playoffs...but that was it. The Eagles that went all the way three seasons prior had two back to back 9-7 seasons, but tanked in 2020, following an embarrassing 4-11-1 failure that ended in three consecutive losses. The Eagles went on full rebuild,  with Jalen Hurts as starting quarterback, and getting rid of the former franchise quarterback, Carson Wentz.

As bad as that was to some people, it was the right move. Jalen Hurts threw for 16 touchdowns, and although he threw for nine interceptions, his versatile nature allowed his to rush for 784 yards on only 139 attempts, meaning he averaged 5.6 yards per carry. Hurts was the team leading rusher, and proved to be a threat. He isn't wicked fast, but his general athleticism and agility make him stand out. His 10 rushing touchdowns certainly help his case.

Jalen Hurts threw for three touchdowns, and and averaged 8.9 yards per rush, in a solid pounding of the Falcons in the first game of the 2021 season.

With a totally revamped defensive line and receiving corps, Hurts will definitely have an easier time to throw the ball to confident wide receivers. Although the Eagles may have a little bit of work to do, the team that bombed with a 4-11-1 season two years ago, has instantly become a contender, with Jalen Hurts leading the way.
