Question: Why do the Eagles need J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor?
Now this isn't really an issue that is debatable, arguable, or silly. This is a fact, and actually not that much of an opinion. The Eagles need to get rid of J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor.
Stats say it all in this situation, and maybe a little bit of regret and anger. Howie Roseman is notorious for jumping back and forth between the brilliant GM and the utterly stupid GM. Exposing his stupid side, are the two receivers he drafted, one in the 2019 draft, and the other in the 2020 draft.
Let's start with Arcega-Whiteside. He was drafted in the second round and proved to be a flop... pretty quickly. In his entire, three year career, Arcega-Whiteside has a grand total of 1 touchdown. Let me repeat that. The second round wide receiver, has 1 touchdown. And he doesn't compensate for his lack of scoring with huge receptions, or even a large amount of yards. Over his three year career, Arcega -Whiteside has 16 receptions, for 290 yards. And this is over 40 games.

The biggest issue is that Arcega-Whiteside was drafted before superstar receiver D.K. Metcalf. Metcalf was the epitome of wide receiver, and honestly could of passed as a tight end. He has speed like Tyreek Hill, hands like Jerry Rice, and muscles like Schwarzenegger (I know Schwarzenegger isn't a wide receiver, but pictures of Metcalf's insane abs are all over the internet.) Not only does his physical appearance prove Metcalf's worthiness, but so do his stats. In fact, Metcalf snagged three times the number of receptions in his rookie year with 58, than Arcega-Whiteside has in his entire career. Likewise with yards. Metcalf had 900 yards, again over three times Arcega-Whiteside.
It's not complicated. If Arcega-Whiteside was drafted in the fourth or fifth round, maybe his weak performance would be understandable. Much is expected, and looking at who the Eagles could have got is also disappointing. If the Eagles had drafted D.K. Metcalf, and another player coming up, they probably wouldn't have had to invest in wide receivers later.
It's common knowledge that D.K. Metcalf would have been a wiser decision over Argcega -Whiteside. It could have been predicted. Another famous poor decision Howie Roseman is hated for, was when he chose Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson.
Reagor's best college year was in 2018 when he hauled in 72 receptions, 9 for touchdowns. He also had 1,061 receiving yards, which are actually really good statistics. These stats are crushed, however, when compared to Jefferson's. Jefferson's best statistics were from his last year, when he had 1,540 receiving yards off of 111 receptions. Oh, and not to mention 18 touchdowns. Although Reagor's college statistics are impressive, Jefferson's are superb. Jefferson's NFL stats reflected his college stats. Reagor? Not so much.

Justin Jefferson played phenomenally in college and is playing phenomenally in the NFL |

Jefferson this past year had 108 receptions. Think about that. 108 receptions! He also had 1,616 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. That is a lot! Reagor on the other hand, had only 33 receptions for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Reagor isn't totally awful or taking the team down (Although his multiple drops in week 12 against the Giants did drag the team down and cause them to lose 13-7).
Obviously the Eagles made two wrong decisions. Keeping Arcega-Whiteside and Reagor is not necessary, and if Reagor plays like he did in week 12, he could end up taking the team down.
The Eagles have Quez Watkins, Devont'a Smith, A.J. Brown, and Dallas Goedert, which could form a very dangerous receiving corps. And don't forget Greg Ward who plays solidly and Nick Sirianni favorite: Zach Pascal. So really...what are the Eagles doing and where are the Eagles going with J.J. Arcega -Whiteside and Jalen Reagor?
