Well, I'm glad I'm not a Diamondbacks fan

I confess, I'm not be a true Phillies fan. If the Phillies and the Red Sox were in the World Series, I would be rooting for Boston. But, I am not a Diamondbacks fan, and I'm glad to say so, because the Phillies (my second favorite team) absolutely thumped them.

In the first game of the four game series, J.T. Realmuto hit for the cycle. If you don't know what that means, it is a rare feat where a player gets a single, double, triple, and a home run all in the same game. Realumuto had a busy day with three RBI and four hits. But even with all his efforts, the Diamondbacks won a close one, 9-8.

That's when Philly went on lock down mode. Inspired by Realmuto's heroics the day before, the Phillies shut down Arizona. Zack Wheeler tossed seven K's in six innings. It took five pitches and then Kyle Schwarber hit a home run. By the end of the first inning the score was 4-0. That was pretty much the script for the rest of the game. Eight Phillies players had at least two hits, and eight Phillies players had at least one RBI. Arizona could muster only three runs as they were beat down in a 15-3 drubbing.

With a 4-3 victory, the Phillies were back at it. Ranger Suarez threw seven strikeouts and gave up zero runs in seven innings. Realmuto was hard at work again with two RBI and a hit. This game was especially important because finally Philly had reached that .500 mark, after a furious comeback from 25-32.

And the Phillies easily finished the series in Arizona with a quick 5-4 win. Aaron Nola's nine K's, a home run from Bryson Stott and a two hit one RBI game from both Trea Turner and Alec Bohm propelled Philly to the win. Sure the Phillies managed to get to be .500. But finally...they were a game over .500! Their 35-34 record may not seem like much, but it is so satisfying. And an added bonus is their next opponent, the Athletics. Oakland's baseball team is moving to Vegas and is so bad, they might as well be a minor league team right now. The 19-52 Athletics will have a tough time, and Philly should easily take away quick three wins.
